The structure of the academic programmes achieves this by combining management theory with practical experience. The combination of a 5 month academic term followed by a 4 - 6 month paid internship allows both the theoretical and the practical aspect of hospitality to be developed. With the aim of ensuring an international approach to teaching and with the multicultural classroom atmosphere, students gain an international awareness of the industry and develop effective global communication skills.

PGD, Postgraduate Diploma Programmes SHMS offers a wide range of 18 week Postgraduate Diploma programmes (PGD). For PGD programmes, an optional internship can also be included. The PGD programmes include all subjects mentioned in the curriculum below. PGC, Postgraduate Certificate Programmes The Postgraduate Certificate programmes (PGC) are 12 weeks in duration and comprises 8 modules of the corresponding PGD programmes. Five or more of the modules are generic management/business subjects, whilst the remainders are specialist modules relating to the chosen field. Progression Options: Suitably qualified or experienced graduates of the PGD or PGC Programmes may progress to any of the Masters degrees offered at our University Campus (SMU) in Leysin. Entry requirements:

• Intermediate OR 10+2,
• Bachelor degree in any discipline OR,
• At least 3 years supervisory experience in any industry
• English level equivalent to TOEFL 525 (196 computer based), or IELTS 5.5 or 62 points in the SMU placement test
