TWO REALITIES COMPARED, THE HISTORY OF POLIMODA

Polimoda - International Institute of fashion design and marketing, organizes specialized courses of design, production, commercialisation and marketing, with the aim to create a close collaboration between the academic and production worlds, besides providing a constant comparison with the international panorama.

Founded in 1986 on the initiative and financing of the Town halls of Florence and Prato and some business associations, in collaboration with the Fashion Institute of Technology of the State University of New York.

Polimoda provides students with a quality professional training in accordance with company demands. Polimoda is a member of the IFFTI (International Foundation of Fashion technology Institutes) and offers courses of professional formation in collaboration with the Regione Toscana, the Provinces of Florence and Prato and with the funds of the European Union.

Polimoda doubles and diversifies: from fashion to the whole spinneret, Polimoda Srl comes into being.

In 2001 alongside the Polimoda campus, POLIMODA SRL arises in order to provide high level training and consulting services companies that operate in the fashion sector.

The Polimoda Srl project is involved with 20 leading fashion companies; from Gucci to Tod's, from La Rinascente to Lineapiù, reaching the French at Sildorex and the Japanese at Shima. The motive for this alliance is to provide the business world with updated and well-specialized people. That is why, in the new founded company, 51% of the sharing goes to Ent-Art Polimoda while the remaining 49% belongs to the associates.

Assessment:

• Application form
• Certified copy of high-school diploma (for Fashion Design, Industrial Design, Textile Design, Fashion Marketing, Clothing Pattern making (Womenswear), Design Footwear and Accessories, Foundation in Fashion Design)
• College degree (only for the Polimoda Master's Programs); either the original or certified copy, along with a legalized translation by the Italian diplomatic or consular authorities of the area
• Declaration of value of degree, to be issued by Italian diplomatic or consular authorities of the area
• Two passport photos
• Photocopy of passport or identity card

Admissions Procedures:

For Fashion Design, Textile Design, Industrial Design, Womenswear Pattern making, Design Footwear & Accessories:

• After having applied, program candidates will receive instructions on how to put together their portfolio and statement of purpose.
• Completed portfolios and statements of purpose are then to be sent to Polimoda, to the attention of the Department Head of the program in question (we recommend sending it by registered mail).
• An exam committee will evaluate the student work.
• Polimoda will contact candidates who pass the test in order to let them know the date of their individual interview, as well as a possible drawing.

For Fashion Marketing & Merchandising ( Master Polimoda), Buying Management ( Master Polimoda), Marketing Management for fashion, beauty and cosmetics(Master Polimoda), Fashion Marketing Communication and Organization of Events (Master Polimoda), Fashion Marketing:

• Applicants will be informed of the date of the aptitude test and of the individual interview at our main campus.

For Masters in Fashion Merchandising and Management (in English):

• Applicants are required to take an entrance exam by e-mail. The application fees are €100 (not refundable) and must be paid by bank transfer to Ent-Art Polimoda. Once Polimoda receives the confirmation of payment (the receipt of the payment must be sent by fax or e-mail), a date will be set for the entrance exam. The test will have to be sent back to Polimoda by e-mail within 24 hours.
• Following receipt and review of the exam, a notification decision will be transmitted to the student within two days. Candidates must then have a phone interview with the course chairman.

For Summer School:

• Candidates are required to send Polimoda (by mail or by fax) before the beginning of the selected course:
• The application form indicating the chosen course(s)
• Two passport photos
• A photocopy of passport or identity card
• A photocopy of receipt attesting the payment (bank transfer) of half of the tuition fees (the other half must be paid on the first day of classes)
