Education in Poland:
For over six hundred years Poland has been educating students from all over Europe. After the geographical discoveries and civilizational changes – from all over the world. If you have a high school graduation diploma and are thinking what to do next in your career, please do contact us

To date, Polish schools, both old and those created after World War II, have enjoyed renown throughout the world. They can boast a long tradition combined with modernity, as well as prestige and scientific and educational achievements earned over the years.

Schools of higher education in Poland offer the following types of studies:
• vocational/technical (BA/BSc) studies (3–4 years) – graduates receive the degree of bachelor or engineer;
• master’s degree studies (5–6 years) – graduates receive a master’s degree or an equivalent degree, depending on the field of their studies;
• supplementary master’s degree studies (2–2.5 years) – intended for college graduates who wish to obtain a master’s degree or an equivalent degree;
• Ph.D. studies (3–4 years) – for university graduates with a master’s degree, who wish to obtain a Ph.D.;
• postgraduate studies (1–2 years) – for graduates of all types of colleges and universities.

Higher education institutions offer fulltime studies, part-time studies, evening studies and extramural (distance) studies. Full-time studies are the basic study system.

At present, two general types of higher education institutions exist:
• universities, providing higher education in the fields of: the humanities, technical / exact sciences, medicine, economy, pedagogy and arts, as well as military studies;
• colleges, providing higher education in specific technical/vocational fields and preparing students for practising specific professions.

Poland has joined the process of shaping the European Area of Higher Education. Representatives of the General Council of Higher Education and the Polish Accreditation Commission participate in specialized seminars and meetings organized by signatory countries of the Bologna Declaration, aimed at gaining higher compatibility and comparability of the higher education systems. Numerous institutions and organizations, with active involvement on the part of Poland, are engaged in the dissemination and implementation of the Declaration, e.g. the European Commission, European Association of Institutions in Higher Education (EURASHE), European University Association (EUA) and the National Unions of Students in Europe (ESIB). Inter-college partnership initiatives are extremely popular. An example of that is the cooperation between the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznaƒ and the Viadrina European University in Frankfurt on the Oder. The cooperation resulted in the creation ofCollegium Polonicum in Stubice – a joint branch of both universities performing scientific/educational work and supporting cooperation between German and Polish scientists.

Both Poles and foreigners are more often interested in interdisciplinary courses of study, exercising the option of an individual curriculum and inter-departmental studies at various universities (interdepartmental studies of humanities, mathematics and natural sciences etc.). However, one must stress the elitist nature of this form of studies. Private colleges, created after 1991, responded to the demands of the educational market. At present, some 210 private colleges operate in Poland, which is a unique phenomenon in all of Europe. Nonpublic colleges provided competition for the public ones, which stimulated the improvement of the quality of education and reformed these universities in accordance with the standards of an American ‘corporate university’. This is especially true in the case of polytechnics, which – like the ones in Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocaw, Poznaƒ or Gdaƒsk – were transformed into truly modern universities of technology. Numerous Polish schools of higher education are members of prestigious organizations and associations. Poland boasts the only college in Central Europe accredited by EQUIS – an association of the best business schools in the world. It is the Leon Koêmiƒski Academy of Entrepreneurship and Management, offering classes in Polish, English and German languages.

The best Polish universities are well respected throughout the world. They provide their students with practice, training and interesting individual curricula. They actively participate in international research programs and student exchanges. Studies in Poland

Scholarships
The Ministry of National Education and Sport sets scholarship limits for persons studying in Poland on the basis of international agreements or decisions by the minister for higher education. Foreigners’ applications for scholarships granted within this limit are forwarded by Polish diplomatic / consular agencies to the Bureau for Academic

Recognition and International Exchange. Next, the applications are examined by the Unit for Admission and Education of Foreigners in Poland. Final decisions are taken by the Minister of National Education and Sport.

Costs of Study:
In Poland, full-time day studies at public universities/colleges are free of charge. Foreigners studying in Poland on the same conditions as applicable to Polish citizens have the right to free-of-charge studies at public universities/colleges. Other foreigners must pay tuition fees, which are not lower than the equivalent of:
• Euro 2000 per year – for vocational, uniform master’s degree and postbachelor master’s degree studies;
• Euro 3000 per year – for doctoral, postgraduate and special studies; research, arts, specialised and postdoctoral internships;
• Euro 3000 per year – for vocational courses and practical training;
• Euro 2000 per year – for a language course, including a pre-study Polish language course.

The cost of accommodation in a dormitory ranges from about euro 140–200 per month for a single room to euro 50–80 for a bed in a shared room, depending on the standard.

Polish diplomas are recognised abroad under international agreements on the recognition of documents certifying education or, in the case of states with which such agreements have not been signed, under respective national regulations on the recognition of foreign diplomas.
