Central European University Graduate Business School , Hungary...

CEU Business School was established in 1988 (it was known for the past 15 years as IMC - International Management Center) by a group of visionary leaders, including philanthropist George Soros and Hungarian entrepreneur Sándor Demján. It was the first educational institution in the CEE region to train managers by offering a western graduate business program leading to an American MBA. Since its inception, the school has pursued the goal of developing standards in line with Western institutions, while ensuring timely and relevant consideration of the changes within the region’s transforming economies.

After 12 years of granting joint degrees, IMC joined Central European University, as an integral part of the institution, but remaining a legally independent, separately registered entity. It’s name was officially changed to CEU Graduate School of Business in September of 2002.

Central European University:
Established in 1991, Central European University (CEU) is an internationally recognized institution of post-graduate education in the social sciences and humanities. Beginning with 100 students in its first year in Prague, CEU has grown rapidly over the years.

With 100 permanent faculty from over 30 countries, and over 960 students drawn from more than 50 countries enrolled in the 2003/2007 academic year, CEU provides its students with access to a diverse range of Masters and Doctoral programs from 15 different faculties.

Two of the large sized classrooms are equipped with fixed chairs and tables (Room 220 which can seat 45 persons, and Room 209 with places for 42.) Two of the large classrooms and the six smaller classrooms are equipped with flexibly movable furniture (Room 101 provides space for 48 persons, Room 007 provides space for 30-40 people. The smaller rooms provide space for 20-25 people). All classrooms are equipped with whiteboard, flipchart. There are 33 faculty and administrative offices the majority if which are between twenty and thirty square meters. The computer lab, copy center, reading room, kitchen facilities and common areas occupy the remaining square footage of space.

Each of these two LCD projectors are built-in the room with their own computer and used exclusively for classroom presentations. The third LCD projector is a movable one, used in the other classrooms. The School has a total of four (more will be purchased by the end of 2002) laptop computers as well as several video cameras, video recorders and television sets for educational use. Acknowledging the fact that equipment becomes outdated and overused rapidly, replacement and upgrading is an on-going effort of the Development and Fundraising department.

The School has forty-two computers for faculty and administrative purposes, which ensures that all faculty members have access to computers with Internet connections. Document printing is provided through the CEU network. The Information Technology Unit (ITSU) at CEU Shareholding provides the IT support for the School.

The program focuses on the relevant management issues in the IT discipline across various industries, providing a unique blend of both technology and business management skills development.

This program provides participants with the skills necessary to evaluate technological and managerial solutions, and to identify which combination of these solutions would enhance the added value in their specific industry and type of business. Particular emphasis will be given to developing entrepreneurial skills. Methods for transforming technological knowledge into profitable business applications is a core element throughout this program. Strong industry involvement and executive participation guarantees the timeliness and relevance of the technology entrepreneurial initiatives that are generated during the program.
