Small giant's big leap It is in this backdrop that the Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality held a seminar in the city for the benefit of youngsters keen on tapping the emerging career opportunities. C.V. Wijeratne, a senior faculty from the school, made a detailed presentation on `Academics and real world of tourism and hospitality management,' which came with pointers on the curricula and career. Impressive list Mr. Wijeratne says the school is one of the five Swiss Government-recognised hotel management schools and teaches both in English and German. "We have a multinational faculty and presently we have over 500 students from 50 countries," he says. He describes the Indian hospitality industry as `a small giant that is waking up.' There have been several students from the country who underwent courses at the Swiss School which helped Mr. Wijeratne in taking a closer look at the Indian students pursued their studies and career. "I have realised that Indian students are very studious and practice-oriented. They are not bookworms but the ones who demand to know real-life situations," he says. The institution comes with state-of-the-art classroom facility, student-operated bar and discotheque and a student kitchen and a huge recreation centre in Chur. Admissions are done in January and August each year.
